Other organizations/movements encouraging prayer for marriage:
Family Action Council of Tennessee – Established in 2006, the vision of this nonprofit is a Tennessee where marriage is honored, families thrive, life is cherished, and religious liberty is protected. FACT does this through educational resources and training, lobbying state and local officials for pro-family policies, distributing voter education materials, and joining with other state and national organizations on issues of shared concern. FACT is currently pursuing ways to help the states, starting with Tennessee, regain their sovereignty from a tyrannical Supreme Court by challenging the Obergefell marriage ruling. Find out more at the Reclaiming Our Liberty webpage.
Family Research Council, established in 1983, is a Christian public policy think-tank that promotes and defends faith, family, and freedom. FRC has an online library of information on the issues and thousands of downloadable studies, articles, and documents on all the issues surrounding this Supreme Court case.
- Call2Fall 2015 – Begun in 2009 as part of FRC’s Watchmen on the Wall program, Call2Fall is a nationwide call to prayer on the last Sunday before Independence day. Pastors across America will lead their congregations to spend time in their morning services on their knees, crying out to God in prayer for the nation. In 2015, Call2Fall landed on the Sunday before the Supreme Courtannounced its ruling on this case, Sunday, June 28, 2015.
- 21 Days of Prayer for Marriage and the Supreme Court – In 2015, FRC called God’s people to extraordinary prayer for the 21 days leading up to the oral arguments on the marriage case, April 28, 2015. Daily Prayer Targets focused on the Court and salient issues impacting the Court’s deliberation and ruling. See the introduction to this time of prayer.
- Stand for Marriage Sunday – Church Resources – The God-given cornerstone of ordered society, the time-honored institution of marriage, is in serious trouble. Before federal judges began overturning marriage laws, 30 states had protected natural marriage in their Constitutions. Then the High Court decided for us all. It is time for our voices to be heard in the Courts of Heaven and the Courts of Public Opinion.
Intercessors for America – A group of Christians at a teaching conference in Florida focused on “prayer for the nations.” Challenged by the fresh and extraordinary teachings of the conference leaders, Derek Prince and Ern Baxter, a half dozen men were chosen to steward the movement of prayer and fasting for the nation. This group would become Intercessors for America.
